Meaningful Use:
Now that we are implementing our Electronic Health Records, how do we make sure that the 30-some odd criteria are met to receive the $44,000 in federal tax credits to offset the EHR expense? I don't know about you, but when I was in practice I cringed every time my office admin/manager said we needed to 'implement' a new operational process or procedure.
eHealth Incentive Update:
EMR usability for Physicans are still lacking!
Many vendors give short shrift to the usability of their electronic medical records, says Jiajie Zhang, who is devoting the next three-plus years to addressing this usability factor; something he believes has been a barrier to physician adoption.
Zhang is overseeing one of the four federal research projects in the SHARP program. His is at the National Center for Cognitive Informatics and Decision Making in Healthcare at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he serves as co-director.
Physicians Remaining Independent:
Assisting physicians to remain independent (if that is truly what he/she wants) is motivation for SilverTree to imbed the types of technology and aptitude to increase private practice profit. In this current era and consolidation of medical practices (the physician becoming an employed worker), we must become better financial stewards of our medical business if we truly want to remain independent.
